I will vouch for this subject and say that I too had a thinned out face during the first phase of my treatment. It was noticeable and people did comment on it (not in a negative or nasty way, they just noticed that my cheeks were starting to look a little sunken in, which they were) However, I had m...

This made me laugh a lot, and it nice that you got a laugh out of it too!

If it's any consolation -- I had an adjustment yesterday and had my first day in a powerchain.. on freaking thanksgiving.

sore turkey to say the least!

Hello Jill, I did not have to pay any extra fees to have them taken off/put back on. I made this agreement with my ortho before I got my braces on and they calculated my total cost with that. He didn't really have much of an opinion either way - keep in mind I was very adament about having them off ...

Hello, I've had these "six month braces" Actually, for me it turned out to be nine months (I knew that from the begining) and I should be debanded next month. Yes, it is only for aesthetic reasons. I have to say I'm pretty happy with how everything is turning out, though its not entirely p...

yeah... i work in the entertainment industry -- and i could be wrong - but I think she actually had veneers because she literally just stepped out one day with straight teeth. be careful what you read on tv.com because like wikipedia and imdb, those facts are inputted by regular people - anyone can ...

I would like to throw in some more of my 2cents about this after an experience I had last night. I went out to meet up with some old friends that I hadn’t seen in months. No one had seen me with braces before, (I’ve been braced 2 months) and none of them even knew I was planning on being braced....

Tanning is just something I do maybe two or three times a month during the summer.

I was just wondering if the metal would interfere with the lamps or anything of that sort. Good point with the MRI, catfish.

Everything in moderation.

Braces in a tanning booth

This might be a silly question, but surely not one I've seen on the board since I've joined. Anyone been in a tanning booth with braces? I'm just wondering if its something I should avoid or if having metal brackets in your mouth affects tanning in a salon in any way. I'll probably just check with t...

sorry for ignoring this post. no one answered for a while so i went lurking into other forums! emmajade - i went to an ortho who specializes in adult ortodontics. he's developed a type of cosmetic braces for adults that gives them straight teeth in 6 months. i could go as long as 9 depending on how ...

it seems my response has generated some interest. Neptune - (btw - i am a she) i agree with the self-confidence part of your answer, not so much with the maturity part though. Maybe it has to do more with the maturity of others in our age range that makes us uncomfortable and more prone to negative ...

for those of you craving chicken wings -- you could always go for the boneless kind! i actually always preferred these. and as for a last meal -- i'd go for a nice hearty burger. i did have one burger since been braced 7 weeks ago, but cutting it up with knife and fork is not the same. i second nach...

I've found myself looking up this thread most frequently since I discovered it. Like danish, I do have some envy for the people who say braces have upped their confidence, however I agree that while teeth are still crooked in the begining, it makes the experience very hard at times for now. In regar...

I would like to offer my take on this topic as it differs from the majority of you. Having braces has affected me socially because it has affected my self-confidence tremendously. I’m not as outgoing or talkative as I was before braces, even though I was very self-conscious about my crooked, crowd...
