Hi, Its too early to tell if ur lips will ever meet, depends how far they are at the moment. For sure the meeting will improve but this will take time, maybe upto the point when u take ur braces off, thats when u can really tell if they meet, as the braces will bulk out ur lips slightly. If u dont w...

I dont wanna look like a lizard with all jaw all dissapeared. I can tell it's right too because you can see how far back the jaw bone goes, from the side of the face, and mine is where it should be, and thats not something that can be hidden by teeth. Brittany didn't you read my last post, maybe yo...

Hey everyone I think we're being a bit harsh here. Not everyone is educated in the world of medicine/dentistry, on the other hand brittany you shouldn't make illogical statements when you have no idea or medical background. With regards to your chin going further back, this won't necessarily be true...

Ozzysmum - well it seems Meryaten explained everything pretty clearly to you. So now you know. Tori - like I said previously I had a gap between my lips and if there's a splint your mouth well there's no way your not going to have a gap. After that you may still have lip incompetence due to swelling...

true story. It depends on the surgery your having. Some surgeries are to reduce the length of the upper jaw, maxilla. In my surgery they had lower the upper jaw slightly and one of the side effects could be a slightly gummier smile. What surgery are you having ?

Update about my bimaxillary surgery.

Hi, my last post was ooo several months back. I was complaining about lip incompetence and gummy smile. I just wanted to inform any one with this problem that my lip incompetence improved. It took about 8 months but now my lips in rest position do meet. With regards to my gummy smile its also improv...

The longer face is definitely because of the bone repositioning. They brought down the back of maxilla by 5mm and apparently by bringing down my maxilla 5mm and bringing it forward ever so slightly your soft tissue doesnt follow so much and thats why ive been left with the lip incompetence and gummy...

3 weeks you'll be out and about but you'll still look and feel like a freak. Some people didnt recognise me at first, the swelling can take some time to dissipate but don't get down about it and you'll recover soon enough.
