Hi Debbie. I am 61, so older than you, but very happy that I have finally taken care of my teeth. You are starting on a journey, but one in which you see results very soon. Take care.

Great progress!

Hi everyone! It has been a long time since I've posted, but I wanted you to know that I am seeing great progress with my teeth. I have had the braces on one year now, and my teeth are so straight, with the exception of one bottom front which a coil is making room for. One unexpected bonus is that th...

Whitening tooth products

Hi Athy, Ken and Jill! It's been a while, hasn't it? Just a note after Athy said she uses a whitening mouthwash-- I was warned not to use whitening products while in braces, since they could whiten most of each tooth and leave a darker spot where the bracket was glued. Just a thought. My progress is...

Over 50

I'm 60 and just entering my second month of having braces. I have Damon's top and bottom, and I'm see some real movement in my teeth already. A long way to go yet, of course, but I'm excited to be taking this positive step for myself. Congratulations to you! p.s. Hi Jill, it's good to read your post!

Hey Jill, it's me again, HHB. I'm 60, so you are definitely NOT the oldest one in the group. Keep in touch!

Hi Jill52! Yes, I found that all the talking to children that I do in my job really does aggrevates the rubbing of braces on my tender cheeks! I work in an elementary school primarily, and my first day after braces I had several classes of first graders. Boy was I hurting after that! However, I've s...

Hi there folks! I'm another newbie older braces wearer! (60) My Damon's, (top and bottom-clear on top and metal on bottom), have been on for almost 2 weeks, and I can identify with the "what am I doing" feeling. Thank goodness for this forum, I've learned so much from reading posts. Thank ...

I am doing well. Thanks for asking. I've decided that my braces have to become my newest and most time-consuming hobby. Learning to keep them clean, keeping wax on sore spots, etc. is all new to me. This website, and the nice people who have responded to my messages like you, have been a real source...

Athy, I'm sorry to hear that you are having a tough time. I thought the only time you needed wax was when you first get braces. Do you mean each adjustment can make different sore spots in your mouth? Oh no! I am just getting over the need to use a lot of wax! Oh well, it's good to be forewarned, I ...

My new avatar!

http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn18/hhbar/teeth-1-1.jpg So, here I am in my braced glory in the form of my new avatar. I hope it works! Each day is getting better in terms of soreness and ability to get my molars to meet (this is day 5). Still struggling with flossing in the back of my mouth! I...

tooth movement and soft foods

So, Bizrul, you've seen a tooth move in just one week? That gives me hope! My braces went on 3 days ago, and I'm dealing with a lot of spots in my mouth that are rubbing on the brackets. It seems after I put on some wax, a new spot pops up. I'm going to look for that mouthwash you mention. And maybe...

They're on!

Hi Athy and everyone, My braces are on and so far, so good. Very strange to feel all that metal in my mouth, and my molars don't meet since my top teeth bump into the brackets on the lower level. This is making eating interesting. Only milkshake, oatmeal and a cream soup today. The doc says the teet...

Thank you, Athy! Only 1 1/2 hours to go! I'm excited, and a little apprehensive. I've thought about it so much, it will be a relief to finally get it done!

I'm about to take the plunge!

I hope I can join this forum, since you are all younger than I am! (I'm 60). I went through a period of cold feet, but now, thanks to the encouragement of people on this message board, I'm going through with it on Wednesday! I'm getting damon braces, top and bottom. I'm a little worried about...
