Re: How many surgeons did you consult?

... my case was mostly related to the jaw (bone structure), not teeth. He recommended I go see a jaw surgeon and more specifically, he recommended Dr. Arnett/Dr. Gunson, which according to this board seems like the most popular picks in terms of orthognathic surgeons. I also did research online by ...

Re: Is this right - Gunson/Arnett

On April 5, 2016, I posted the cost break-down for my surgery in December 2015 with Dr. Gunson as of the time of writing. I was still fighting my insurance company regarding the fees. It took nearly a full year to resolve the fight, but it did indeed end last year. And, I got them to pay virtually e...

I'm baaack! (recommendations near Seattle?)

Years ago I posted about my consult with Dr. Arnett down here in Santa Barbara. He concluded that I'm an excellent candidate for double jaw surgery, due to my overbite / airway / unstable bite issues. Well, you can't have kids for a year before ...

Re: Arnett-Gunson Insurance Coverage

There are a lot of plans that offer benefits for "Out-of-Network" doctors and facilities. Usually the benefits aren't great but it's something.

Re: Arnett or Gunson in Santa Barbara?

PART 3, CONTINUING THE PREVIOUS POST: About 4-6 weeks before my surgery, it dawned on me: Dr. Gunson's fees are gigantic because they are all-inclusive, but Cigna only pays for fees as they are performed, and there must be a specific line-item cost associated with each fee. I called Cigna and explai...

Re: Arnett or Gunson in Santa Barbara?

Hi Bride2Be, A note up front: I recommend printing this out, highlighting the action items I recommend, and then making a list and going through them systematically. Also note that the last part is split onto the next post. There's a lot of info here.... If you still want to discuss, I think we can ...

Re: Arnett or Gunson in Santa Barbara?

Hi SantaBarbarian, today I had my first consult with Dr. Gunson and I was just about ready to sign away my soul. Until I was told how much it would cost. Being completely new at this, I was floored. I thought my insurance would cover most of it and then I was informed he was out KD network. Is there...

Re: Surgeries with Arnett/Gunson Anyone?

Dr Gunson did facial reconstruction on my daughter's jaw. She first went to Dr Piper in St Petersburg Florida.... He did two extensive jaw operations on her and her lower jawbone continued to get shorter and weaker, thus creating a deformed appearance. Dr Piper said he didn't know what to do and had...

Re: Is this right - Gunson/Arnett

P.S. It is now well-known that the approach my dentist used as a child to treat me (eventually pulling teeth to make room) is the exact wrong approach to use and causes the entire jaw/teeth to fall inward, substantially worsening any sleep apnea problems that someone might be prone to have due to a...
