ibraces-should I be worried??

Hey guys. I have a few questions about ibraces (I'm really nervous about getting them next month!)
My ortho has NEVER used ibraces before, but has used regular linguals. Since I have been to my consultation, he has done the quick online training and has been placed on the ibraces website as an ortho that can do them. I think I will be his first case.
I am terrified that he will not know what he is doing, and that all of my teeth will fall out. For those of you that know about lingual braces, would you be worried about being the 1st case? My ortho is experienced with regular linguals, do you think that ibraces are going to be very challenging for him (are they that different to place on the teeth?)
Of course there is always a chance that things may go wrong, but I would appreciate any level-headed advice on this. I don't want to back out at the last minute, but I also don't want to end up with serious damage to my teeth simply because I didn't want to question my ortho.

I just got my iBraces off last week after only 10 months and I love my new smile. The fact that your orthodontist has done linguals in the past is great. The great thing about iBraces is that it is a custom device. Each bracket is designed to the anatomy of your tooth, unlike the old linguals, and the archwires are already designed (robotically) to your final setup.
This actually makes the system much easier for the orthodontist and staff. I would not worry about it.

i agree completely. though i would be a little worried about being his first case - as long as he has been working w/linguals i'm sure he'll be fine. your teeth definitely wont' fall out

i've had mine on for almost 2 months now and each day it gets easier. as with any type of braces there is some discomfort and adjustment and there will be until they come off.

Originally he planned on doing ibraces upper, and regular metal on the bottom but I am considering asking him to get the ibraces for the bottom as well. We'll see.

ok, one word of advice - if you are planning on getting linguals on both top and bottom i strongly suggest getting one set on first and waiting 3 wks for the second. i got the bottoms on first and didnt get the tops for 3 wks and let me tell you - the pain on the bottoms is much much much worse. you actually dont feel pain in your teeth but the braces really cut up your tongue. i lived on soup and ice cream for a wk (and booze to kill the pain). the btms really didnt affect my speech. the tops, however, really didnt hurt me at all, irritated my tongue a little but NOTHING compared to the bottoms but they affected my speech a LOT. my ortho said its much easier for the patient to do it in steps and i agree - by the time i had the tops on i was completely used to the bottoms. i have officially had my tops on for 2 wks and i'm about 75% used to them. i'm hoping by the end of wk 3 i will be 100%. but if you're going to get both i would ask your ortho about doing them in steps.

wow, 10months? That's fantastic!!!!! Ur so lucky...... R u wearing a retainer now..?? How often do u wear it?

Yeah i was planning on getting linguals upper and bottom 6 teeth linguals and rest of the bottoms creamics but i changed to all linguals too..It would've saved me 2 grand.... but its al worth it in the end...
Yeah i got my tops on first and the next month i got bottoms

Hi itsjustme! I am also the first patient of my ortho with a new kind of lingual braces she hasn't used before. She had experience with linguals but not with this type (I have Evolution braces). I have passed 6 months already and totally satisfied with her! And more I had a discount in price since I am the first and I may spend more time in the chair. So I wouldn't worry at all, it is going to be just right.
I was getting the uppers and the lowers in the same time. I decided for this because I took 1 week off from work and this way I got used to the braces quicker. My lisp was terrible at the beginning, but after 10 days it became significantly better, and after 2 weeks it was 90% the same as previously.
