need some cheering up

#1 Post by mun »

hi everyone..

i think i need some consolation. when i first started my treatment, i signed my contract without looking at every details.well, i was organizing my files the other day and noticed that my prognosis says "fair". there is "excellent", "good", "average", "fair" and "poor"...and i only got fair...

so i will go through all that hassle, spend nearly $10,000 to have "fair" teeth..

next time, i will ask my ortho if he is around. that's another thing, i don't get to talk to him much because he is never around; i can only ask the technician but i don't think they know more than they are told.

anyway, i feel pretty hopeless..

Aww, that's a drag. I don't know what to suggest except maybe give your ortho a call and ask him or her to clarify exactly what is meant by *fair*. Could it be that additional treatment would up the prognosis to *good* or even *excellent*? Don't give up hope! :rose:
Braced March 2005 (lower); November 2005 (upper); all ceramic. Goal = correcting overbite.

Thats a downer. :( I agree, you should speak with your ortho about this. Hopefully his idea of "fair" is another ortho's "good," and he may just be a perfectionist and feel that anything better is extremely rare? Hope it works out!

I'd set a meeting with your ortho and tell him/her all your concerns. You are spending a lot of money and this is your body you are talking about. Have him explain everything to you, it will ease your mind.

Thanks everyone. I finally talked to my ortho last friday. Well, he tried to explain that it would be "fair" if i didn't follow the directions, missed appointments etc. so "fair" is the worst case scenario. And he also said he didn't "circle" that; probably the person who put my contract together did it.

So it was nice to hear that they won't end up being "fair" at least. Why they would "circle" the worst case scenario doesn't make much sense. My boyfriend got braces at the same time and his is "good", so that'd mean he'd have good teeth even if he didn't comply with the instructions :?

I think it was just a mistake or something, or they wanted to cover themselves IF my teeth actually don't turn out perfect :P

But i really trust my ortho and his experience, and i trust it when he says "they will be good at the end". He seems like someone who takes pride on his work.

So i am less worried now, although in the back of my head i have a little bit doubt. But i assume everyone feels the same. :)

YES! we want to look our bests at our wedding :) we keep saying we should have started at least a year ago, but i am just happy that we startes sooner than later.

And it helps so much to go through this together, we understand each other's pains and eating troubles etc, although we have different types of braces. It is great :)

Everyone! convince your spouses or best friends to have braces too..together for a straighter teethed world! :P

Well my boyfriend has never had braces, and his teeth are fine and he doesn't even look after them so much! I don't know the technical side of teeth, but from what i can see, they look good to me and it's just no fair some people have it so easy!!!! hehe

Oh well, as i keep reminding him and myself and everyone else, i can't wait 'til my teeth look better than his lol
