I'm now just past my 6 month mark since I got the linguals. So far, it hasn't been too bad although the lisp comes back for a day or two after each adjustment. I've had only two instances of the bracket coming off - in fact, one came off yesterday. I've got it stuck to the next bracket with some Braceze and will have to deal with it until I can see my orthodontist on Monday. The Braceze is much better in these situations than wax since I always seem to eat the wax after every meal. Braceze seems to stick on a little better.
I've also had to deal with the wire coming out of the last back bracket and it was jabbing my tongue for a few hours. It happened twice this month which is a huge pain, literally. I initially was going to cut it with a nail clipper, but then my sister was able to stick the wire back in with a pair of tweezers - both times! It happened when I was eating Raisin Bran, then again when I was having a salad with dried cranberries. I think I'm going to have to lay off the dried fruits.
One thing I would have asked my ortho before I went with him is to find out his office hours. My ortho is only in the office Mondays and Wednesdays so if I do have a minor emergency, I have to wait till then. I wish I had found someone who's more available.
With my last adjustment 3 weeks ago, I'm now getting random gaps between my teeth which I was not expecting. There are about 4-5 little spaces (each about 1-2 mm) so far and it's SO not attractive. I'm hoping they'll close up sooner than later. How long does it take for the little gaps to close?

Goodness, 6 months already. That went quickly.
Last year I had the wire come out of a back bracket that was knocked off (by a cheese straw). I was away at the time and had to wait for 3 days to get it fixed. It was hell, made eating very painful and no amount of wax helped.
I have had a gap open up between my upper front teeth, and you could see the wire behind it. It was about 1mm wide, took around 4 weeks to close and hasn't reappeared since. I've had another of a similar size open up more recently between an upper canine and first premolar, waiting to see what the ortho is going to do about this one.
