Hi volare,

The taste of etchant isn't real great, is it? My ortho removed all the excess glue, particularly stuff that had got in between my teeth because, to use his words, my teeth weren't going anywhere until the glue had been removed. You may want to check this in your case.

Yep, my ortho called to see how things were going, and I talked to him about the "glue" and he apologized and told me to call in the a.m. to set up a time I can come get that fixed. So that is on tap for tomorrow. Now we'll see how I make it through the night- hope I don't grind off a bracket!

Went yesterday and got the bottom arch ibraces installed. It was quite an ordeal! Over 2 hours of fun! We found out last time after installing the top brackets that the "glue" needed to be flossed out from between each tooth before the wire went on. So we did that this time. Unfortunately, it was very difficult gettings some of the glue off with the floss, so my gums were pretty torn up by the time that was over with and it was time to install the wire.

One of my front teeth is really out of alignment with the other teeth- pushed far forward due to overcrowding. The bracket for this tooth has to be very thin due to it being forward of the teeth next to it. During the installation of the wire, this bracket popped off. Sandblasted again, re-attached, and it popped off again. Sandblasted a third time, but by then the tiny gums were bleeding profusely and wouldn't stop. (Can't say I blame them.) Since the tooth has to be dry and they couldn't dry it, it will have to go without a bracket for a few weeks.

I've got my next appt on Apr 1, when they will once again try and get this one bracket to stick. They are also going to change the wire on the top as that has been progressing nicely. I asked how many wires for the whole treatment, and they said 5, which surprised me- I was expecting a lot more.

Some day I will have enough posts and I'll be able to have a counter!

Ugh....memories of glue stuck between teeth. In my case, they had to drill it off.

Hopefully your teeth will have moved sufficiently by April for them to reattach that bracket successfully.

The glue can be really annoying, I've been there! I've still got some glue on a tooth where my tongue makes regular contact, and it's been a bit annoying. At the moment, I think my tooth is more likely to fall out, than the glue come off, so I'll be asking my ortho to do something about that (the glue!). At the time the uppers were bonded, all I could really feel was the brackets and wire and the molar build-ups. Like you I didn't notice the excess glue until later.

hey all, I am also getting linguals here soon. I found an orthodontist in columbus, ohio that does the ibraces. It is gonna cost me $9,400 , which seems about right when compared to this board. I am 25 and have crowded teeth with an overbite. He said i will need 15 months of treatment to fix this. I will try to post some pics here soon. I have a consultation on march 27.

Well, I went in for my April 1st appointment. My top wire was changed to a heaver gauge wire. They were planning on bonding that last bracket to my front tooth, but instead the decided to put a coil on it to try to open the gap more to give them more room to bond the bracket. So I'll have to wait another six weeks to get the bracket on. Oh well...

Hi:
I am getting ready to join the club, too. Wisdoms removed several weeks ago and have my appointment for the fitting set for the week after next. I am opting for liguals on the upper and standard on the lower. Has anyone decided to take a similar approach? I am more self conscious about the uppers and figured that a hybrid approach could cut the pain some. In addition, my doctor said that conventional braces woyuld work better for me on the lowers because my teeth are crowding and fairly narrow (?).

Yes, I had lingual uppers and regular braces on the bottom (mix of ceramics at the front and metal on the rest). This is quite a popular combination.

I have lingual uppers and ceramic lowers too.

I have that combination too for the same reasons. A week in and other than the people I've told nobody has realised I'm wearing braces. Good luck!

Rolo and Lionfish:
Thanks for the reply and well wished. I am sure that I will have some questions once I get them on, but that's about 6 weeks away. Thanks again for the quick reply.

Just a quick update. I finally have all of brackets on. They were able to get the last bracket on the front tooth at my May 20th appointment. So finally the one tooth that really forced me to get braces is finally under assault by the wire. Things are moving around, but nothing worth posting photos yet. My top teeth which were actually pretty straight before braces have actually gotten worse as they have started to shift. But I understand that this is typical, and I'm not too worried about it yet. About 2 more years to go!

Oh I got that taken care of back in Jan right after I got the top brackets on. Seems that the trays they use to put them all in at once tend to cause this problem. Requires some heavy duty floss to get out. When they did by bottoms 6 weeks later, they flossed right away before putting the wire on- made it easier, but that stuff was still mighty tough.
