Linguals on Bottom Teeth

#1 Post by lingual or nought »

So I went back to the ortho for the discussion and then after having always said I wanted linguals, he assumed I'd get ceramics for the bottom? Does anyone have linguals on the bottom teeth? Is it so hectic?

I have ceramic not linguals on the bottom, but there are plenty of people on the forum who have linguals top and bottom. It's such a personal choice. If you did get lower linguals, there would be no worries about staining...I do miss curry!

I have linguals top and bottom and it is a lot to get used to at first. I'm 2 months in now and although I wouldn't go as far as to say that I don't notice them, I am definitely used to them. As rolo said, its a personal decision

I have linguals on top and bottom. I got the top first, and the bottom six weeks later. The tops have been on since Jan. I think it's really personal preference if you want to do all linguals or just the top.

Hey! I've got linguals on top and bottom. It's early days since the lowers were bonded but so far I'm finding the lowers much harder to get used to than the uppers. This could be due to the fact that not all the lower teeth have brackets (too crooked at the moment to fit them), and so the wire is in free suspension across some teeth which makes eating and speaking quite a challenge. I do not regret my decision to go for all lingual, but I think having had a reasonably smooth ride with the uppers, I had hoped the lowers would also be manageable. So far I'm finding it more of a challenge than I had expected. My tongue rests on the lower brackets, so trying to help the process along with salt water rinses and wax whenever possible. For me, the decision to go with all lingual was based on the fact that I didn't want the braces to be visible. It's a personal choice at the end of the day.
