Progress!

#1 Post by perfectlystraight »

I've had my ibraces (top and bottom) on since June 13th. I'm supposed to get them off December 1st! I can see a huge improvement already and it's so rewarding. I had my third appointment last night. It took about an hour. The ortho had to put on my last bracket, and in the process a wire broke, so he had to use the steel bands which hurt like crazy. My teeth were so sore last night, but it's such a great feeling at the same time.

I still have a lisp. Right now though I formed a slight open bite due to the linguals. I'm assuming that once the bite closes it'll be easier to speak. I just wonder how long until that happens.

I have one question. What happens to your speech once you get the ibraces removed? Does it take a little bit to adjust your speech again? Or are you taking normal right away? It semes like a stupid question, but I'm curious.

Oh, I lied. I have one more question. When I was at the ortho I saw that there were about 7 pieces of paper with wires on it for me. Do I have to use all those wires? It seems like a lot.
