Biting the Bullet!

#1 Post by charliebrace »

After many years of considering fixing my teeth I've decided to go for it. I have chosen the Lingual route with Incognito and will have them on my upper arch only.
I am very concerned that I will lisp, but I will take the risk and hope it goes away after a few days.
I am told treatment will last for 12 months as the changes are mainly cosmetic. I have been quoted £3500 from start to finish. Apparently I will have to wait some 8 weeks for the brackets to be made is this normal?
And I guess as the install dates closes in I will get sweaty palms as 38 seems rather old for messing with teeth.
I will attempt to take you on my jorney!

Congratulations on taking the plunge! I'm 38 too and will have mine (top and bottom) for two years. I also waited a couple of months for my Incognito braces to be made. Try not to worry about the lisp, like you say it's likely you'll lisp for a day or two but you'll soon adjust and people won't hear any difference.

Well done you for taking the plunge!! I'm 44 and regret not doing this much sooner. I have had incognito braces on both my lower and upper arches, with the uppers fitted at the end of August. Initially I thought the lisp would never go...it is now not noticable at all unless I'm tired or have a dry mouth - so drink lots of water. Good luck and keep posting with your progress.
