ELASTICS.

#1 Post by neon »

my orthodontist put rubberbands in the last appointment I had (monday the 18th). he put an elastic on the two canines, extending to my last molar. when i say the two canines, i mean the fang teeth, lol.

i just want to know why he did this? is it to pull my canines back or to the side or what? i'm lost o_o

my ortho did the same thing. From all the reading i've done, its to help retract the front teeth to correct your bite. I'm guessing you also have an overbite?

I think the term for it is class II elastics.

I didn't have time to really ask questions at my last appt (last wed, 1/27).. but I'm not sure why this elastic configuration was applied because my teeth look straight vertically. (am likely proving to be of little help)

Perhaps someone else can fill us in.

those are class 2 elastics. Used to reduce overjets get posterior teeth into a class 1 relationship, etc.
