London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic - Consultation
Hi everyone. Would anyone be able to provide any review / feedback about the London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic and Dr Didier Fillion ?
I've only just discovered Lingual Braces, what an amazing discovery ! I went for a consultation at VitalEurope a couple of months ago and they advised having the Damon System. However, at the age of 30 with an active social and professional life, exposed metal in the mouth is simply not an option. So I called the London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic after discovering this technique on the internet just this week. I will be going for my consultation in 10 days, but they have said that the price ranges from £5,000 to £10,000. They are probably a little more expensive because the orthodontist I have been scheduled to see is the well respected Dr Didier Fillion and has practised lingual orthodontics since 1996. As he is at the top of his field and the clinic rated top 10 in London (with celebs like Kelly Brook and Sadie Frost as clients) I think it may be worth the extra money ... Treatment should be quicker with a better outcome.
Any info on this clinic or alternatives would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone

Hi, I haven't used the clinic you're talking about so can't really comment specifically on that. I'm located just outside London and am paying right in the middle of the price range you've been quoted for upper and lower Incognito/I-Braces, and the estimated time I'll have to wear them is two years. So I guess the price you've been quoted sounds realistic, depending on what exactly your treatment and length of time is. Don't take my word for it though - I'd get a few more consultations with other clinics if I were you, just to make sure.
I've found the Incognito braces to be ok. When they first go on, it's hard to imagine ever getting used to them, but you will. I've had to go through a number of adjustments or changes every 2 weeks or so since I first had them put on (about 7 weeks ago now I think), and everytime that happens it affects my speech a little until I get used to the changes. So yes, speech can initially be affected, but it does improve and people generally don't notice unless you point it out to them (which I always do)!! Your tongue will be sore to start with and wax really helps, but you'll soon find you don't need it as you get used to the braces. And changes start to happen really quickly - I'm amazed at how much my teeth have shifted since they went in....it's great.
Hope all goes well at your consultation.

hello,
I am being treated at the London Lingual Clinic, however from a different doctor there Asif Chatoo. The cost is £6,700 (both upper & lower).
I also had consultation from Didier Fillion, but his quote was £12,000! However this was a year ago, so not sure whether this would be cheaper now due to the recession etc
I'm so far happy with my treatment , and Asif is a doctor who you can talk to and makes you feel comfortable.
Hope this helps.

Hi H78,
I assumed that London Lingual would be much dearer than the £6,700 you have been quoted. If you don't mind me asking how much was the initial consultation and what does your quote include.
I have been quoted £6,500 for STB at a clinic outside of London; I thought this was good value until hearing of your quote. I’d rather spend the extra £200 on visiting a specialist.
Thanks

Hi there,
the initial consultation was £75, then I had to have x-ray/mouls done etc which I think was around £400.
Dr Asif Chatoo works at two practices, the London Lingual and Bow Lane. I had my intial appt and quote at Bow Lane as was easier to get an appt there, so not sure whether he charges a different price between the two practices. However, I had the braces fitted and all further appts at London lingual so think it probably is the same price at both. the quote includes all appts, braces, and retainers I think (can't exactly remember, I'll have to look at the paperwork again)
I went to see 6 different Harley St orthos, and this guy was by far the best.
Please see below links. hope this helps.

London Lingual Braces - Didier Fillion
I have chosen Dr Didier Fillion at the London Lingual Clinic for my treatment. I've had my moulds and photos taken, my upper linguals will go on in just a couple of weeks !
The treatment fee for upper and lower linguals was £7200 (that's including the 10% discount for paying off in one go). Treatment time 18 months. Consultation fee £100. X-ray, records (moulds), and one year retention costs an additional £800. Dr Fillion is one of the top lingual orthodontists in the world so I'm really happy to be treated by him for that perfect smile ! And I've probably paid around £1000 more than the average ortho price but it's definitely worth it. Having a specialist reduces the treatment time with better results. Also Dr Fillion uses the new STb Light Lingual braces - they are tiny brackets and have little or no impact on speech.

My Gosh! London Lingual appears to have upped their prices since my consultation in 2007.
I'm sure these guys are indeed very good, but I found their prices extortionate. I had my £70 consultation there, and was then told I had to pay an extra £200 for moulds and xrays, this is all on top of the £7,000 my linguals would have cost.
I was just about to sign on the dotted line, then I thought better of it and I got an appointment at an Ortho in greater London. Obviously, they dont have the name value that London Linguals have, but their proces are also a hell of a lot cheaper. To start with, consultation was £80, which included xrays and moulds, and this is taken off price of braces anyway, so really it's free. When you consider that one user above paid £870 just for xrays and moulds and consultation at London Lingual, I obviously got a bargain.
Additionally, I am having the same treatment I was offered at LL, same STB brackets, same treatment time, but am paying £2,500 less than London Lingual.
If you live in central London making travel convenient and you can afford their prices, then i'm sure you wont regret using them, but just be aware that you can pay much less money.
London Linguals use the small stbs, but in my experience, anyone who uses stbs seems to use the small ones anyway. Mine does.

London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic are expensive, but I'd guess you pay top money based on what they offer.
Fact! You are really paying for their expertise and the market they targeting at, which is rich people.
I had a consultation with London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic and decided not to go with them based on his opinion to extract 4 of my health teeth and also the high price. Linguals was £10k, 4 extractions £360, retainer £?, hygienist visits £? ....All in all total cost probably £12k.
Afterwards, I visited a few more Lingual Orthodontic practices in London and finally settled for linguals at Barbican Orthodontic Clinic in London.
Total cost back in 2007 prices £5-6k for top and bottom Linguals. For me, I chosed ceramics on bottom and Linguals on top with a cost at £4.2k. All retainers included too. Extracts from another dentist, less than £18 each.
Nearly 2yrs have lapse and I am pleased with the current result. Reasons I chose Barbican Orthodontic Clinic :
1. My Orthodontic specialist teaches university students on orthodontics and also performs her trade one weekend a month to her private and NHS clients. She's highly knowledgable on new developments in her profession. Because she works with children on NHS, she knew how to remove your fears from having braces for adults or children.
2. The cost of treatment was affordable the and pricing was honest, no hidden cost. A added bonus, the treatment was on Saturday which helped especially if you have a busy career in the city.
3. Tooth conservation was the policy. I nonly had 2 tooth extractions required as opposed to 4 extractions.

Inquiries about the Cost of STB braces
I am going to be attending university in London as an overseas student. I had braces a year and a half ago however one of my canines and pre molars have started to jut outwards slightly (the canine has rotated outwards slightly as well). I just came across lingual braces and was wondering...At the clinics all of you have mentioned (such as Bowlane and London Lingual clinic) how much was the initial consultation, the cost of having X rays etc. taken, the cost of STB lingual braces for both jaws and the number of weeks you require(d) to wear the braces for. I would also like to know whether the cost of STB lingual braces includes the monthly consulation fees or not? Are there any other clinics in London which may give STB treatments at cheaper prices? Also, I was wondering whether you know of any special discounts that are made available for overseas university students (I think it's safe to say that the student insurance doesn't cover the cost of braces)? Thank you so much for your help and I'm eagerly awaiting your answers

London Lingual Ortho - Asif Chatoo
hey there, I have just started treatment at the London Lingual with Asif Chatoo - have to say this was the best Ortho practice after doing my research and paying lots for consultations where I didn't feel at ease with the orthodontist! I am 26 and having braces second time around so want to make sure I am getting the best possible treatment even if it means paying a little more!
I am just having upper linguals and have been quoted £4.600 - have only had them on for 3 days and I have to say apart from the speech related issues no major problems although i really hope this goes with time! Really like the practice and Asif is very down to earth and I would definitely recommend him with the experience I've had so far!

Dr Fillion or Dr Chatoo
I am thinking of having Lingual Braces and I am stuck between Dr Fillion or Dr Chatoo.
What does everything think? Any key differences? What prices did you all pay?
