Is it possible to get my teeth whitening with my lingual on once my teeth are perfectly aligned or will i have to wait till after?

Hey

Just got my braces on yesterday! Top and bottom. I asked my dr if I could have my teeth whitened before they went on but he said it was pointless until they come off. A year to wait!
