Always breaking my linguals

#1 Post by uglysmile78 »

Have had my lingual top set on for 2 months. I have been back literally 5 times with minor breakages. Is it me do you think? I don't particularly watch my diet and eat soft food but then again I don't eat chewy or hard stuff either. It always breaks on the same side. It's so annoying. I have also had a bracket break off and nearly swallow it and the ortho says I lost another bracket when I know he didn't even put it on. He is claiming he did and it must have fallen off. I know for 100% certainty he didn't put it on. I know every inch of this contraption in my mouth and I know it wasn't put on in the first place.
Both missing brackets aren't connected at present but will be eventually so he'd better get the missing ones sorted. I am paying £6000 and think they should be replaced free of charge
Just a bit fed up. I can't go 2 weeks without breakage and not too fond of being told I've lost a bracket when I hadn't.

Has anyone else had so many breakages?

Hi uglysmile..

Just want to let you know i'm in the same boat as you.
Tommorrow will be 2 months with my upper lingual and i've had my brackets broke 3 times and wires also broke twice. Dont know if its happening to many though since i've been reading around this forum and have not come across a lot of these cases.

I haven't entirely been avoiding hard food but i have this feeling that the reason why my brackets break is because its not bonded properly. I just hope that i dont swallow any in the future, since i think my ortho will definitely charge me for that. So far, my brackets were glued back free of charge.

hi guys

do you have to pay for any breakages then?

Included in my price is any breakages - by this they mean minor breakages like a couple of brackets etc.

The ony thing i would have to pay for is if the whole thing pretty much came off (which has happened with lads playing alot of rugby - so they had to change it for that reason really)

Actually that's true i think they said i'd be charged for any lost brackets. didn't think about that. I'll have to be ever so careful when I eat then & i love my food :-(

Sasying that though i don't chew my food much, just swallow lol - don't know if that's good or bad haha :?
