Hey Jond4414,

Welcome! I've had my linguals for 3 weeks and it will get better. The first day, I was mostly sore from them having to shave 0.3mm in between two of my front teeth on the bottom. So trying to bite down was painful for a week. However, hours after getting them on, I ate some soup, some french fries and a cookie. Over the next few days, I was eating salads, crackers, cake, Vegan chicken salad, etc. This week I ate pizza, sushi and peanut butter protein bars!! (I'm just too greedy to not eat, so I think me just jumping into it right away made the difference. It forced my mouth to adjust quickly.) I only have problems now pronouncing certain words/sounds. But keep in mind, everyone adjusts/adapts differently.

I promise you, although it feels awkward right now, it will definitely get better. If you like pasta or hummus, those are things that everyone mostly recommends to eat during this adjustment period.

Good luck on your journey!

Hi johnd4414, like p.maxwell says, it will get better.

Give yourself a little time to adjust. And use wax and warm salt water rinses (1 tspn salt to a tumbler of warm water) liberally as you get used to all the new stuff in your mouth.

I can only speak for experience with lingual uppers (I have ceramic lowers), but I'm quite happy with them. I'm 7 months into treatment.

Good luck and come and vent here if you need to!
