hi everyone

so i've been considering getting linguals for a little while now...at first i didnt want to know about them because of the cost and because it seems like such a complex solution, but i've come to the point now where it seems that if it isnt invisable, i probably wont even get braces. as invisalign isn't an option for me because i has a minor over bite, linguals seem to be the final solution. i've booked an appointment with an orthodontist but i can get a consultation until march 12th and he only does upper linguals.

i'd love to hear peoples opinion...if its worth going through with it...what lower ceramics and upper linguals look like, and if they are as effective if i need elastics...as a student will i be in debt for life...haha

thanks everyone
tara :)

Hey there,

I'm a student too- and refused anything but something invisible! Invisalign wasnt an option for me because i needed four extractions and an uncovering of an impacted canine.

So i went with Ibraces. which i loooovvvvveeeee. They are just as effective as traditional braces..

So I say... go for it girl! :)

And if costs is a huge problem for you as it was me... I got CareCredit.. (not sure where ur from... im from the states)...

Its basically a credit card you can use for braces-- with no interest at all. I think my braces were about 7k, and i only pay 152 a month-- not bad :)

I wanted at least my uppers to be invisible, so I ended up with upper linguals and lower ceramics. The ceramics are barely visible, and mostly at very close range and in profile. At one stage, I was 'dressing' them up with mauve ligatures, but reverted to silver more recently. 21 months later, some of my friends still haven't spotted them.

I've had various combinations of elastics and they have worked fine for me.

I'm almost done and it's definitely been worth it.

I have upper linguals and lower ceramics also. In the beginning I was not so sure if I could go through with it for 2 years the length of my treatment. Well after 3 months now I have gotten use to them and things are looking good. The lower ceramics are barely noticeable and the upper linguals are impossible to detect unless you let them know about it.
