Hi Jay Tea,
From what I have read here and my own experiences, I think the period of time can be quite varied. Some people even seem to have very little problems at all.
For me, by the end of the first week I was pretty confident speaking but eating remained fairly difficult.
However things are fine now, in terms of both eating and speaking. I have had them on for well over a year now..
Best wishes, I am sure everything will be fine for you too..

From memory, for the first 2 weeks my tongue was pretty sore, which then meant I did sound a little weird, and my S's were a bit lispy... however i'd say that give it 3-4 weeks and my speech was back to normal.
When my lowers went on, they didn't make any difference at all, probably because my tongue had already got used to the uppers.
Now I wouldn't even notice any difference in speech at all during 99% of the time. Every now and again, mainly if i'm dehydrated, I do feel like i'm lisping, but I think it's only me that would notice!
I'd totally agree that it's probably only me that would notice anything at all, most people, even if I explain i've got lingual braces... still ask "what do you mean??" so it can't be noticeable!

I got mine yesterday (uppers) and half of what I say is no different....the other half is completely garbled!! I'm a fast talker to begin with, so now much of what I say is completely incoherent
Though I'm already learning to try and keep my tongue "inside" the braces when I speak and it's been helping.
