Which to get?

I'm am at the final stage of my decision process, I've chosen to go with ceramics on the lower teeth but still can't decide on the uppers.

I have the choice of either iBraces or a brand called in-Ovation L MTM. The in-ovation braces are only canine to canine and look like this:

Image

I have been told that with iBraces I will get a perfect result, as they are the "Rolls Royce" of braces. My dentist said I'll get a good result with the In-ovation, but not AS good. Which I am kind of willing to accept.

The iBraces cost £4k whereas the the In-Ovation cost £2k. This is a huge difference for me. I'd go with the iBraces straight away if they were cheaper..

Another concern is which will be better for speech? I notice how the iBraces connect with the wire a bit higher up the tooth and have a flat surface where they bond to the tooth, I guess this is to reduce profile? Looking at the In-Ovation they seem bigger in profile, maybe more likely to affect speech?

So basically it's a choice between the cheaper In-Ovation, or biting the bullet and paying double for the iBraces..

What would you suggest? I REALLY need to decde soon as I want a nice smile in time for summer :(

Hi xTc - I'm very new to all this, just had my iBraces put on last Thursday. So far just I have the brackets only on the top (wire goes in in 2 weeks) and have both the brackets and wires on the bottom.

When I had the top brackets on, I had no speech issues at all and I have a small mouth. The bottom ones went on and they affected my speech before the wire was even put in. So everyone is different - your speech may be fine whichever brace you go for on your upper teeth. And if you do have problems, just use the wax because it really does help. And something which I've read many times on this board and which I'd echo - you may hear yourself lisping or speaking strangely, but other people don't necessarily hear what you hear. Everyone I've mentioned it to has said that they can't notice any difference in the way I speak.

And as for which brace you go for in terms of cash, that's something only you can decide. Spending £2k or £4k......both are a lot of money. Personally, as I'm having to spend a lot of money (not to mention time and discomfort) on this, I want the best result I can get - the results are going to last me a lifetime after all. So, if you spend the £2k and get a less than perfect result, will you kick yourself for not spending the extra to get the result you want? I guess that is the question I'd be asking myself if I was in your shoes.

Good luck with making your decision. The sooner you get them on, the sooner you'll have great teeth. 2 years and counting for me!

Wow thanks, your post really helped. Do you think your speech will still be OK once you get the wire in?

You make very valid points about spending money on a less than perfect result, I do actually think I may regret it in the future..

Not sure how much more difference the wire on top is going to make. I've noticed that when I put lots of wax behind my top front teeth to give my tongue a break, my speech is a lot better - I don't think the wire being there will make a great deal of difference to the amount of wax I can feel sitting there right now. Here's hoping. The only way to really know if it's going to affect your speech is to take the plunge and get them fitted. Then you can start sorting out the issues - it's not too bad and it does improve very quickly.

Ah rite, I'm only worried about speech. I'm quite a talkative person so if my speech is bad and I go quiet people will notice and ask questions!

Like you said I'm just gonna have to take the plunge and find out, but it really worries me :( I keep putting it off..

Yes, it worried me too as I have to talk a lot at work. I have to say though, since I've had them fitted I'm more concerned about eating and then cleaning the damn things! The speech seems to be getting easier every day, and honestly, so many people have said they don't notice any difference, even though I think I can. And you know, you may well get them on and find out your speech is fine!

hi, i'm new. just had my first free consultation yesterday. i'm 24 and have some crowding on the top and bottom i'm looking to fix. the ortho i went to recommended invisalign or In Ovation L braces. I am thinking about In Ovation linguals but am also having a hard time finding reviews on the web. I was wondering if you decided whether to get ibraces or in ovation and how they are working for you. i too am worried about speech and price. invisalign is out because it's too expensive so i'm looking at linguals but don't want to sound awful.

I am pretty much in the same boat, I can't find ANYTHING on in-Ovation braces on the web, apart from their official website.

I have spoken to one person who had them, he hated them and told me not to get them. But I feel he may have hated any type of lingual appliance. My main concern is also speech, I have chosen to go with iBraces - they cost twice as much as the in-ovation braces, but I am guaranteed a perfect result, and there are a lot of positive reviews all over the internet. Have you considered these?

Let me know what you decide!

The doc I went to only had brochures on In Ovation and didn't mention ibraces. I learned about that brand while looking for In Ovation info online. Money is a bit of an issue for me which is why I nixed invisalign, and it sounds like ibraces would be as expensive. hmmm...maybe i'll go for a second consulation with a different doctor and see what they say. Thanks, and good luck with the ibraces :)

Was trying to find any Incognito ortho nearby, and came across this website http://www.lingualjet.fr. Is it another type of linguals?

Ah I see, so expensive aren't they!

I saw it as, I was going to pay £4k for in-ovation + lower ceramic, or £6k for iBraces+ lower ceramic.. I think it's best to pay a bit extra to get the BEST possible lingual appliance, my ortho says they are the Rolls Royce of Linguals.
