Had my consultation yesterday at the London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic with Dr Didier Fillion and have just received my treatment plan … Wanted to share it with everyone on Archwired as you’ve all been so informative, supportive, and helped me bite the bullet !
CONSULTATION REPORT
Main concerns:
- Two upper pre-molars removed already (I am now 30, these were extracted at the age of 12)
- Crowding on the upper and lower jaws
- Midline discrepancy
Goals for my treatment:
- Alignment of upper and lower jaws
- Overbite and midline correction
- Before starting lower arch, wisdom teeth must be removed (although all four will need to be extracted at some stage).
Treatment should last approximately 18 months.
Fees:
Upper & Lower Lingual Treatment (STb) £8,000 ($11,500)
Records £350 ($502)
X-Rays £81 ($116)
Retention Fee (first year of retention) £500 ($718)
If I pay all off in one go I’ll get a 10% discount on the treatment fee (£800).
Fees don’t cover visits to the hygienist, which is a required every 3 months.
NEXT STEPS
So, I’ll be attending the clinic next week for impressions and photographs. Then in about five weeks, once the STb appliance has been made, I’ll return to the clinic to bond the braces to the upper teeth. Then after another few weeks and after wisdom tooth extraction I’ll have the lower linguals fitted.
The STb brackets look tiny, only 1.5mm profile. They should have no impact on my speech at all … But the proof is in the pudding. The treatment is quite pricey as I was expecting hygienist costs to be included and didn’t realise there would be costs for retention. Retainers have to be worn for many years after treatment, so that’s potentially another £500 each year. However the retainer is just a small wire permanently fixed behind teeth so totally unobtrusive.
Once again, thanks for everyone’s support and I’ll keep you updated with progress.
Starting treatment next week ! Upper and lower linguals.

Hi Pimlico
I have ibraces, I think they are a little different then the ones you are describing? Mine cost $8500, with $2000 covered by my company-which was great! I got my bottoms on first, (back in July) and then the top ones on in December). The bottoms were harder to get used to, but the tops made me have more trouble speaking then the bottoms...and they still give me trouble sometime. I had two extractions, and have the same estimate-18 mos.
I would definitely invest in getting a water pik--it really helps keep up the good oral hygiene!! Are you getting yours on all at once? Keep me posted.. Let me know if you have any other questions, I would be glad to answer them in regards to my experience so far.

Hi
Hi SandraDee,
I’m getting my tops on first, bottom linguals will go on a few weeks later. You’re really lucky to have your company pay $2000, and $8500 for treatment is quite low cost. So you’ve had your ibraces on for some time now. How long does it take before the teeth begin to straighten ? I just can’t wait to start treatment, although not looking forward to having my wisdom teeth out … they’re impacted so it’s gonna be a hospital job !

Re: Starting treatment next week ! Upper and lower linguals
Thanks for the post it is really informative. Would you recommend the London Lingual, and did you try any others? How much was your initial consultation, did this include photos/ x-rays. How long after your consultation were you given the treatment plan and prices?pimlico78 wrote:Had my consultation yesterday at the London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic with Dr Didier Fillion and have just received my treatment plan … Wanted to share it with everyone on Archwired as you’ve all been so informative, supportive, and helped me bite the bullet !

How much did you spend in total before decided to go ahead with them. I am in the process of researching orthodontists in London (I live in Milton Keynes but have no local options for Linguals) and wanted to get a couple of consultations before selecting a clinic to use.
You have mentioned that your fees do not include the hygienist, how much extra will that be and I am right in thinking that this will be when you get your wires tightened.
Sorry for all the questions, but as I will end up paying a considerable sum of money I need to ensue I make the right choices.
Thanks.
