Hi, I'm trying to decide between linguals and ceramics.

I've been quoted £3800 for upper and lower ceramics and £6100 for upper and lower incognito (or £5600 for other linguals) which seem like fair prices from what I've read on here.

I'm fairly sure I want linguals, I just don't fancy 2 years of ceramics (I'm 34 now, be nearly 37 when they come off) and love the idea of teething looking good before the linguals are taken off but I'm worried about the speech problem that some people seem to get.

So...the big question...anyone regret getting linguals and wish they'd gone for ceramics?

If you don't mind me asking, where did you go in london for the lingual quote?

I'm getting linguals this October, and i've been quoted at the £8000 mark.

I'm not in London, I'm in Birmingham. I went to James Hull which is a national chain, not sure if they have places in London but worth checking.

Even though I am having difficulty talking I do not regret getting Linguals. I would advise going with whatever option you feel most comfortable with, after all 2 years is a long time.

Hi, I am coming to the end of my treatment and I have lingual top and normal white brackets on the bottom-
In the time I have been wearing my braces - nobody has noticed them- I only told a few closs friends and family as I was unable to eat properly in the begining....
It did affect my speach, but nobody noticed this unless I pointed it out....
I took a few days off when I had my treatment as it was such a big thing for me I don't think I would of coped with work and braces in one week...
If I were you consider lingual top and white traintracks on the bottom it cheeper ..... I don't regret one moment having the braces- its hard work and there are times when I have wanted to rip them off.... but its the best thing I have ever done- and it only gets easier from the day you have them in.....

I dont regret getting linguals... but looking back on it I do regret being so vain that I didn't save myself £3000 and get normal braces on the front!

Speech was a problem at first but within a few months most people couldn't tell I was wearing them... and beleive me I talk to a LOT of people at work!

I paid £6700 for upper and lower linguals from Total Orthondontics by the way.

I have lingual uppers and ceramic lowers. I don't for a second regret linguals they are amazing, yes sometimes I get a sore mouth, but as much from ceramics as linguals. For me it was well worth the money and cause I am reasonably happy with how things look, I don't get frustrated with my ortho if things aren't moving as quickly as a I would like, or if they want to work on my bite, which I'm less bothered about.

No way. I love mine, not one person has a clue I'm wearing braces unless I've told them. My lower ceramics are much more uncomfortable and annoying.

They really are amazing, my speech is perfect - it pretty much was straight away. None of my close friends who I see a couple of times a week know anything about them.

With all of the ceramic buttons that I have had placed on the fronts of my teeth, I might as well have gotten traditional braces. If you are considering them, you might ask how much elastic treatment will be required, and whether you'll be able to attach your elastics to the lingual brackets or if you'll have to get buttons installed. The buttons are far more uncomfortable than the lingual braces.

Do you have IBraces/Incognito? I'm curious because that's what I have and they have a hook for elastics on each bracket, I'm worndering if it has to do with the brand of linguals or the treatment plan

I have iBraces, but on many of the brackets, the little "tails" where you might normally be able to hook elastics are seated quite firmly on my gums, negating their use as hooks.

I have full linguals (ibraces) the first month was the hardest, but after that you don't notice them. You might have your ups and downs with them here and there but overall they are awesome.

I've had lingual braces on since last september and have absolutly no regrets!

• I didn't hurt my tongue (except once ; i've put on orthodontic wax and it was good after a night or two)
  I don't have difficulties to talk AT ALL.
  I've got use to eating with it without any major problems.
  + Nobody notices them!
