Lingual braces NIGHTMARE - please help

Hello.
I've had lingual braces top and bottom for over 3 years now, with no end in sight.
I had a deep overbite and severe overcrowding.
The gaps from my extractions are nowhere near closing. My teeth are still an absolute mess with teeth overlapping everywhere. I've had numerous breakages of my brackets and wires, but due to how my teeth are configured, I just keep breaking them.
My overbite has not been corrected. It has been made worse, as my bottom teeth now tilt inwards whereas before they did not.
It seems like my treatment is going nowhere, and I honestly don't know whether my orthodontist knows what he is doing or whether he has had a case as bad as mine before. Its been 3 years and only now has he given me elastics to try to correct the overbite. I'm starting to really worry and regret the whole thing.
Please help me. I don't know what to do. So long as I have my braces I can't go overseas to live. What should I do???
Luke

Are you seeing an orthodontist, or a dentist who says he does orthodontics?

He's an orthodontist. He doesn't do dentistry anymore - only orthodontics.
I've paid $11,000 for these braces, and my teeth look disgusting.....
I honestly don't know what to do.......

get a new ortho, your guy doesn't know what he's doing. how old are you.
It does not matter what type of braces u have, if u have no results after 3 years then there's something wrong. You probably need jaw surgery to correct your bight.

i'm 23.
thanks man but i aint gettin no surgery. already had my wisdom teeth out and that's enough.
i'd go to someone else maybe if i could get my money back, i've already paid him $11k.
i'd definitely advise anyone with serious teeth issues to not get lingual braces.

I am sorry for your situation. The same thing could also be happening with regular braces too. It isnt just the fact that inside braces are being used. It really depends on what is trying to be accomplished. there are limitations with both inside and outside braces and if you push the envelope too much with either the results may not be as anticipated. I wish I had some more advice for you.

if your ortho isnt getting the job done you should get some of that 11k back minus the cost of the i braces. go talk to another ortho, i'm sure he could give u some better advice on how to get some of your cash back to use towards his treatment. Or just sue. I've read another post some where on this sight where the same thing happened and they got 100 % of their money back.... do some more research, it's your health don't mess around with it

Oh god, that sounds like a nightmare.
Is this common with Lingual treatment? I was assured that Incognito braces were just as effective if not more so than the traditional "traintrack" ones.

no it is not common with lingual treatment at all.

I would seriously seek another othodontic to correct the problem....
After 3yrs and no signs improvement, i suggest you start looking again again and treat this $11k as a bad investment decision.
As for lingual braces... Nothing wrong with having these braces when fitted and adjusted by experts...
Yes the time frame for linguals maybe be a bit longer but compared to appearences in public and at work, its much better for an adult to have fitted than conventional braces...

well if you don't get what was in the contract and that is the end image they had of your teeth then you should get a refund for some of the treatment... if that doesn't work take a bat with you to your next visit then he may start getting to work on your teeth

I've now got regular ceramic braces on the lower teeth. The lingual treatment basically failed badly.
He says the treatment can be finished in 6 months. I'll see how it goes...

Surely you'll receive the difference between the cost of the linguals and the cost of the ceramics, right? That's only fair.

Oh, and regarding whether linguals work or not, they definitely are working for me. My teeth were horribly crowded. They were expanded, and then brought together with linguals.
