lingual + herbst

#1 Post by allycat »

Hi just a quick one! I have just had linguals fitted top and bottom with a plan to have herbst brackets/bars fitted next year to correct an overbite. I wondered if anyone has had the same combination? am slightly worried about the herbst as my mouth feels really full of metal already!!

Hey,
Not sure about the herbst but I got my ibraces fitted on my bottom arch around 2months ago and the difference already is incredible! I would say that I started to notice a difference in around 3 weeks.
I just had my uppers fitted so can not comment on those.

thanks4 your reply! im really struggling to adjust to the braces. i know its only been 4/5days but am wondering how im gonna cope for 18mths to 2 years with these on! How long was it before you could eat 'normal' food.....im not talking about steak just pizza or pasta and feel like you can chew and swallow normally without having to be really cautious?

also how long till the soreness goes? I have 4 pieces of wax on my brace and could probably do with more....my tongue is so sore! :(

I think every case is different in regards to the soreness, to be honest I had the soreness for around a 1 week only.

I didn't use any wax, I just used pain killers for that week. I was eating pretty much normally after that week also

In this case they would do Herbst first for about a few months or so. Then they would be able to fit you with linguals. Same if you were to get regular braces and need a herbst.
