Hi I'm a newbie here.

Have had my upper braces for 3 weeks and just had the lowers fitted 3 days ago. One side of my mouth has really sore gums - almost like they are cut. Is this normal? I didn't e perience this with the uppers.

I have my uppers and lowers for three days now. But I didn't experience this. Maybe your ortho hit your gums with the sanding of your teeth before they apply the glue? Something like that? My gums did feel a bit weird, like there was less gum than before or something, dont really know how to explain this. I think it was caused by sanding my teeth when they put the braces on. But remember inside your mouth really small things can feel like they are huge! If you're worried I would just call your ortho, but I'm sure it's fine.

s00102 Thanks for the reply. Gums are feeling much better now. It's just my Tongue that has cuts on it now but a friend has recommended some brilliant mouth ulcer stuff today so I'm sure they will heal quickly too.
How are you getting on with your braces?

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. Your tongue should feel a lot better in the next few days. My braces didnt cut up my tongue, my tongue only got irritated from the end of the wire in the back. But as of today i dont have to use wax anymore! My tongue is totally used to the braces now. I can talk better too! I would say my speech is back to normal for about 95% of words. So I am very happy with that.
The only problem is eating.. I still cant chew really hard foods or chewy foods like meats etc. Luckily Im not a big meat- lover anyway. But Im looking forward to be able to chew normally again without pain.

Overal Im really happy to have chosen linguals. Now I hope so see some progress over the next few days, before my next appointment! (3 sept)
I didnt notice any changes really. Maybe tomorrow Ill take new pictures and put them in my thread over at 'braces stories'.
