Anyone given up lingual and gone conventional?

#1 Post by lingual or nought »

Hi Fellow Barbwire Hosts

I have had lingual braces top and bottom for three years now. I got them mainly for rotated lower canines and a cross bite on one side. My lower arch seems wider than the upper one.

Besides never getting fully used to the speech thing, I have seen no progress. The original problems persist and my teeth look worse.

I am wondering if anyone has swapped out for regular braces (though I can't see myself doing that - lawyer- huge embarrassment issues) or if there is a guarantee of the wear your retainer warning, I.e. That your teeth will go back to where they were. Then i would just get him to rip them out and let them return to their homeland. It would beat how they now look.

Are there some cases where linguals just can't do it?

Anyone?
Anyone?

I'm about to.

Have a look at my thread in this forum.

Apparently Damon Clear is pretty invisible.

I'm at the end of my tether now after 5 years and really wouldnt care if I had to wear a bright pink wig on my head if it could fix my teeth.

My lingual braces experience has been a complete nightmare and I wish I had a time machine.

I think it all comes down to the skill of your ortho. Some orthos are not specialized to do linguals. I am going to the top lingual orthos in London, and the journey has been good so far. No complaints, and when I see patients at that clinic (The clinic only does linguals) they have picture perfect teeth. Maybe you can try other orthos??? (look at reviews from this board).
Sorry to hear that your treatments have been bad. Hopefully it works out .
