Hey there, I had lingual braces put on my bottom teeth out of pure vanity. Over the last through years I'd noticed a pretty significant shift in my bottom teeth, at least significant to me. So..... here I am, 38-years-old, electively choosing to have braces placed for the first time to make myself feel better. And on this second day after getting my lingual braces, I'm really wishing I would have spent my money on botox or liposuction. My head hurts, my jaw hurts from holding it in a funny way, my bottom teeth are sore, and last, but definitely NOT least, my tongue is all kinds of pissed off. My tongue does not like sharing it's space....at all. I tried wax today and just got grossed out, it'll be a while before I try that business again. Please tell me this will get better! I'm usually a stick-with-it kind of girl but I'm not so sure about these suckers.
I am so glad I found this forum. Y'all are the best!

Re: Day 2 post placement bottom lingual braces
Hey jflo618,
Yes - it does get better Some people take longer to adapt but most do in 2-4 weeks. I have had my lingual (upper and lower) in a week and in that time I have improved a lot although they still do give me pain towards the end of day. I only use wax at night to give my tongue a rest and have also got some ulcer cream from the pharmacy that I put on. I have noticed that not all wax is the same. Some goes on and off easier than others.
Chin up - in a months time you will be wondering what all the fuss was about. In the scheme of things it's a short amount of time for life time change. You'll be fine and YES this forum helps a lot.
Cheers

Thank you so much for the encouragement! My frustration level right now is pretty high but your words have helped significantly. I will definitely look into the wax you were mentioning....I'm all for anything that will help.
