ligatures and tie wires

#1 Post by mandaluv »

Does anyone know why tie wires are used sometimes instead of ligatures?

Thanks!

Hi mandaluv
My ortho uses tie wires when he wants to increse the pressure on a certain tooth. Using wire can fix the bracket very firmly to the archwire. When he does this the tooth is generally tender for a few days, but not a major problem.
