metal retainer in lower teeth

#1 Post by mbbtj105 »

I am concerned about the metal retainer in the inside of lower teeth and that it may be slowly leaking metals into the body. I have heard that orthodontic metals are very poisonous. Does anyone know anything about this? Thank you.

No, they are not poisonous at all.
However, a very small percentage of patients (a single decimal number) will have hypersensitivity to metals in orthodontics. Talk to your doctor about having any allergic reactions to nickle, or other metals. In any case, you will most likely be fine.
