metal bands hitting teeth

#1 Post by mmadigan »

This is my second time around and I was wondering if anyone has had problems with their molar bands hitting against teeth when they bite down? I just got parts of 2 bands sanded down and now I am just barely able to make contact with my back teeth. I look forward to eating something solid once again.

I have that problem too, and I'm always worried that if the bracket keeps hitting my upper teeth that it'll eventually wear away at the enamel.
Has that been a problem for anyone?
My orthodontist put "lifters" on my molars (aka cement) so that i'd still have some chewing surface, but I definitely can feel on of the metal brackets still contacting my molar.
