I hate my Essix retainers!

#1 Post by Echo »

When I got my braces off on Wednesday, the assistant asked my ortho
"Essix or Hawley"? He said Essix. I asked her if they were as good as Hawley and she said yes, it's what she wears. They also told me I could use them as bleaching trays, which I had been looking forward to. So I got them. I only have to wear them at night, but when I take them off, it feels as if my back teeth do not meet when I bite down. Does this go away? I'm thinking of calling to see if I can get a set of Hawleys. Also, I have used whitening gel for 3 night now and can't see a difference. My teeth do have some white spots just after I bleach, but it doesn't last. Any insight on these things, anyone?

My bite was off for a few weeks but now everything is fine. I hated mine at first too but now I like them.

I'm just thinking that if I had Hawley's, I wouldn't have the "off bite" thing for hours after I take the retainers out. I'm going to ask how much they will cost me.
