What is the Average Archwire Size?

Hoping someone can shed some light.

The asst that did my braces said they normally use a 14" wire but she used the 18" in me since they only did the tops to get my teeth moving. Can someone explain this to me? Has anyone else had this done?

Hi,

They usually start out with .014, move to .016 and then to .018, but I have seen them skip wires. You didn't say if this wire was put on when you got your braces on or on your second or third adjustment?
