First few hours with braces and bracket fell off

#1 Post by Angela E »

Hi I am new here and I have a questions.

I got my top braces today at about 10:30 am. Well after I woke up from a nap, around 5 p.m., my back bracket fell off. Is this highly unusal? Did I do something to knock it off? Now I am afraid they will all fall off and I will swollow them in my sleep (yes, I did read about the one poster swollowing theirs).

Any advice will be appreciated. I do have an early morning appt tomorrow to get it fixed.

Thanks

Angela

No big deal, I had one pop off within 5 minutes of leaving the orthos office the day I got braced! Call your ortho and tell them what happened; they will reattach it. I was told the adhesive takes a while to cure and set, which is why it is common for this to happen.

Congrats on getting your braces, by the way!

It's happened to me too, a few hours after I got braces for the first time, a lower bracket came off when I was attempting to eat. It turned out it was sticking out a bit compared to the other lowers, and my top teeth knocked it out.
No worries.

Same thing happened to me when I got my uppers on and then again when I got my lowers braced. Both were on teeth that have crowns. No problem though, my ortho reapplied both brackets with no complaints.

Congrats on getting braces! :D

Thanks for the replies.

I went this morning and had it put back on. Wow that grinder taking off the glue really struck a nerve in my tooth OUCH!

I am very thankful to have found this resource for my new journey. Its nice to have a group of people to understand the throbbing pain happening in my mouth.

Thanks

Angela
