Anyone have/had Tilted 2nd Molars

#1 Post by Gennel »

I did a search and the results were like 1,300 results and I looked through many threads. I did not find anyone with tilted 2nd molars that were tilted inwards like this on either side / \

What treatment did your ortho use to upright the molars?

How long did it take to get the molar/s upright?

Right now I am using elastics from my inner 2nd molar to outer 2nd molar. If I have to wait 6months to see that they are moving upright then , I can deal with that. I double up on elastics and change them about 3-4 times a day.

Here are my tilted molar pics

Gennel, all I know is that teeth can move about 1mm a month.
Its all about "patience". Yeah, I know, I hate it too. :(
Orthos don't like to elaborate on how long your particular case will take because everyone's teeth move at a different rate.

I had several extractions. My top extraction gaps were about 7mm . I've been in braces for a little over 3 months. So far those gaps are about 2mm
So I am thrilled with that progress. I'm just scared that the ortho might put the bihelix too soon without waiting 5-6 months.I guess I am a bit paranoid that they might not move with elastics

Gennel, dunno about inwards but my upper 2nd molars especially tilt outwards quite a bit. These are the teeth that are not bracketed and hence I think it might be to do with my braces because I'm sure they weren't this bad before my treatment. They don't affect my bite or anything so I haven't mentioned it to my Ortho yet but I will if it gets worse.

I've also never read anything about it on previous posts, maybe someone else could help us on this one?

I have no idea but I have a tipped molar as well - I will let you know what my Dr. does when I get braced (in a splint now). I love the gold braces !

On the bottom, my left 2nd molar is tilted inwards pretty badly. The right one is kind of tilted. My ortho did mention that he would correct that, but I didn't ask him how.

My upper top 2nd molar was tilted outward. It still hasn't come down all the way which makes me think that this is as good as it gets, but it is way better and is not affecting my bite.

I hope it all works fine for you. I never had elastics to try to fix it. Everything we did was just with the wires. It looks like that mechanism will work quite well.

My second molars on the top at tipped backwards up into the gums because they grew out in unison with the third molars (Wisdom Teeth), in my upper arch. I have brackets on those teeth and also the bottom second molars as well

My upper molars are kinda slanted outwards. They were like that prior to my braces though so maybe that's one of the many things to fix.

All my molars are tilted like crazy, and I also have crossbite. Currently I only have brakets, but I will have elastics later on, and maybe something I am unaware at the moment
Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.

Both of my premolars are tilted inwards, I understand how frustrating that is. I've had my braces just over 6.5 months and those 2 teeth aren't attached to the archwire yet because there isn't space for them. My ortho wants to avoid extractions (thank goodness, so do I!!) so I have coils on either side that stretch past those teeth that are supposed to be making space. There is definitely space being made, it's just happening very slooooooooowly. Oh well, if I get to keep all of my teeth and have a prettier, broader smile and arch at the end of it, I'm willing to wait a bit for the space to be made! My ortho hasn't mentioned yet what he plans on doing to bring the molars back to where they should be, just concentrating on making space at this point. Here's my most recent photo of my bottom arch so you can see what I'm talking about.
