Expanders and orthodontist?

#1 Post by Liz-07 »

I was wondering whether any of you who have an expander could recommend an orthodontist in the Northeast (USA) who uses expanders, without surgery, on adults? The orthodontists I've consulted with are against expanding without surgery on adults, and they recommend surgery. I know many orthodontists think non-surgical expansion on adults is a bad idea, but I'd at least like to get the opinion of an orthodontist who uses expanders without surgery to see whether I might be a candidate.

I know expanders are pretty well disliked so it's ironic that I'm looking for an orthodontist who would use one! But any names of orthodontists would be very much appreciated - I'd really like to explore my options before choosing surgery. Thanks!

I wish I was still in the NE.. I consulted with one orthodontist who was very pro surgery and two who thought that an RPE was worth a try. I will be getting mine, along with upper braces, in about 2 weeks. I would just call different offices and ask how they feel about RPE's in adults.. and set up some more consultations!
