Chris-I think my molars are a bit out of line both up and down and sideways!! I think one of them is tilting in a bit, and I think there is a little too much space between my upper and lower molars when my mouth is closed.

I am also interested in how my ortho plans to correct this. I am not getting Hawleys...I am getting an Essix type of retainer except that the bottom and top are connected (kind of like a mouthguard)--I think it's called a Damon Night Splint. The ortho said he would try to correct with the retainer first, and if that didn't work he would put two 'mini' brackets on my last 2 molars, with a tiny wire between them to level things out. I hope that that doesn't end up happening!

I'll keep you posted!

2 brackets, that sounds interesting, much better than a mouthful of them. I wonder if there is enough "torque" to accomplish that.
Well, as long as they accomplish their goals.

Thanks everyone for your great comments! I've posted an update on my progress here if anyone is interested:

And KK is right--I use a threader to floss my teeth that have the bonded retainer. I don't mind at all--compared to flossing with braces it's a snap!

Well, it has been over a year and a half since I had my braces removed, so I thought I should post an update!

My teeth are still doing well, they are still straight, and I still wear my retainer (almost!) every night! I think my teeth have moved a little bit, but nothing extremely noticeable. I also still have my bonded upper and lower retainers, so I'm sure that those help.

Here is a pic of my teeth taken a couple of weeks ago (click on the thumbnail to make it bigger):

Sorry for the image quality!

So for those of you who are just starting your braces journey (or feeling frustrated that your journey isn't ending soon enough!), don't worry, it will be over before you know it, and soon become part of your distant past! :D
