Does anyone here feel that....

#1 Post by orangetammy »

you look much better the second you have your braces off?

I have been wearing braces for a little more than one year, i still think my appearance at this moment is different, and in fact, worse than before.
I'm beginning to worry whether its the extra metal sticking on my teeth that alter the shape of my mouth and chin a bit... (in photos, etc.) or is it that the treatment has made me look worse as a whole...

anyone here feels the same? do you feel that u look much worse when you'r wearing braces?

Hi orangetammy

In the middle of my treatment to correct an overbite and crowded bottom teeth, I felt I looked like a horse. I had prominent first incisors, which made me look goofy, but as the top lot became aligned, they were ALL pushed out, giving me a very equine appearance, which I hated. I'm about a month away from de-bracing and it's all coming together, teeth coming back in nicely, so if you think you look worse, I'm sure it's temporary.

hey, thanks for all your responses. actually i DO feel a lot better now than the first few months of the treatment.. my mouth did look a bit larger than before, but now i feel ok (either my mouth becomes a little smaller again or i get used to it? )

I'll try talking to my doctor about this.. but sometimes i feel pretty uncomfortable to bring up the question as if i'm doubting his ability or something. meanwhile, does anyone of u here share the same feelings?
