I love it !Meryaten wrote:Hey, doc - I am sure this is something over which there are many different opinions, but what are your feelings about indirect bonding?
It is purely personal preferance of the doc....the braces wind up in the same place on the tooth, I was just curious how many docs are doing the indirect thing out there...
It takes more lab work as models are made, the braces glued on the model, and then a thin "mouth guard" like tray is made using the model with the braces...
the tray is removed with the braces in it, and then placed on the patient's teeth a quadrant at a time....Shine the blue light to cure the glue, remove the tray, and poof....you're braced up!
Thanks to all that responded!

So far I only have my bottoms and they were done one-by-one. Not a big deal at all.
There seems to have been quite a few stories on here of folks who had the indirect bonding losing brackets soon after placement. Not sure if there is a correlation or not.

That would be a turn off, Maryaten, but mine did not require any additional impressions.
I will add (for Dr. Rick) that my indirect bonding was done in 2 parts. Upper and lower instead of quadrents.
