Lost a band while flossing...

#1 Post by krooner »

Today when I was flossing I felt something fly out and I thought, "wow, I didn't feel that food stuck in my teeth"....well, it's no wonder, it wasn't food, it was one of my bands! I kept it and I was wondering, can I put it back on myself? Or do I need a trip to the ortho?

TIA
Gracie

Gracie,

Give your doc's office a call so they can re-cement it before the band space closes and you have to go through spacers again :)

Thanks but another question..

I'm not sure if I am explaining this correctly, and I apologize if I'm saying this wrong. Maybe band isn't the right word? It is the little circular elastic thingy they put over the brace. Seems like they just use a little tweezer like tool to put it on. Is this a ligature?

Yeppers, sounds like a ligature, or "alastic"...no biggie if you want to wait, but I'd say give them a shout to put it back on so that tooth will be moving.

I would call them to make sure everything is okay! Good luck!

I lose ligatures often for various reasons. No big deal (according to my ortho) just go in during your next appt. and everything will be ok.
