Try not to worry too much.....I am sure you won't have too many problems. There will be some pain from the teeth moving and sores in your mouth from the brackets. Make sure you use OTC painkillers if you need to, salt water rinses will help heal your sores and toughen your mouth, and definately use your wax on the brackets that are driving you crazy.

Beleive it or not....you won't even notice they are in your mouth after about 2 weeks.

I use a manual tooth brush, but alot of people suggest using an electric tooth brush and a water pick. It is definately easier to floss your teeth if you get orthodontic floss. It is just like regular floss except it is precut and has a hard end on it which makes it easier to get behind your wire.

Good luck and enjoy the journey.....try to have fun along the way!

Now worries. I am in the same boat as you. Being braced for 2 hours now I know how you feel.

I just got my braces put on yesterday, Tuesday. Lower and uppers PLUS I have an RPE to stabilize my post-Sarpe surgery palate.

Feels like my mouth has been sentenced to several months in a chastity belt.

I had painkillers from the Sarpe surgery I never used, I'm using them now. On Friday I'll move to plain old ibruprofen, if need be.

The ortho's office said it would be painful for a few days, the faq for this site says a month! Any braces vet want to clue us newbies in on what to expect?

Best of luck to both of you!

It's really true that after a week or two they really feel a part of you.
