I just have a question about "LOOPS in the archwire".
I have seen some members on here that have this in their archwire: WHY DO THE ORTHO PUT LOOP(S) IN THE ARCHWIRE ?
1. Rather than using chain to close spaces, a "closing-loop archwire" can be used...frictionless space closing mechanics
2. In times past, before nickle titanium were available, loops were placed to increase flexibility in the wire because that was the only way to allow it to be tied into crooked teeth without deforming...loops are still used for this today.
3. Loops can also be used to tie the archwire to the teeth "cinch-back" wires

A couple of my front teeth are slightly tipped to one side, the loops are supposed to fix that, acting (as I was told), "like the springy part of a safety pin."
