G'Day Mates! New Aussie Here!!

#1 Post by Smiletagious:o) »

Hey Everyone! :-1
Just thought I'd introduce myself...... ok, female, 20 years old, student, always needed braces but now have the courage and $$$ to do it!!
I'm so excited but scared at the same time, lol! I have spacing at the top, overjet and small overbite as well. I have had my 1st consult, records, fillings, cleaning and treatment plan consult so far. I have also met with the surgeon who will place my miniscrews (one either side of my top jaw, between 2nd molar and next tooth) and they are going in on April 12th  So I called my ortho today and I'm getting separators on April 17th and braces on April 24th!! :-)o WOW its really feels real now, but I'm lucky, two of my friends have braces at the moment and another one is in the process like me so I won't be alone :D
Looking forward to posting lots more in the next two years.... this is a great site and has been lots of help so far so thanks :rose:

Hey Emma, welcome and good luck, sounds like you've got alot ahead of you. The worst part is over, making the decision to go through with everything. Looking forward to reading your progress and hopefully pics.

Hiya Emma - we have a few of us Aussies here. Good luck with getting your braces on. I'm sure you will not regret your decision. It can be hard at times, but it will be oh so worth it in the end.

Welcome! :D

G'day, emma and welcome.

It's great that you've got some mates you can share experiences with. And good on you for having the courage to see it through.

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome and support
And thanks KK for all those tips, I'm sure they'll come in handy!! I should start the salt water rinses now to prepare my mouth for the screws, but when I tried the other day the taste of warm salt water in my mouth was horrible, so I have to psych myself up to do it, last time it made me want to be sick :yuck: I think I used too much salt
I am very lucky to have friends with braces, but I'm sure even if I didn't all the support from you guys would be more than enough
Wow you sure have travelled alot KK! That's something I haven't experienced.... I have lived in the same house all the 20 years of my life and as I'm studying at the moment I won't be moving out any time soon

I am staying very positive about this whole experience, it's something I have always wanted to do and I know the end results and benefits will far outweigh the minor (hopefully) discomfort and pain :D
Thanks again for welcoming me to the braces 'family' *big hug*

Welcome from a fellow Melbournian :)

Delighted to hear you have friends to share the braces experience with. Braces are one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. Best of luck, I look forward to reading about your progress.
