Slenderizing teeth -- Updated with Pics! (scroll down)

#1 Post by ellebee »

It's me, back again. After a couple of months with springs, it looked like there was enough space to un-rotate my lower laterals. So they were tied to the wire.

The result was that my teeth pretty much shifted back to their original state. So yesterday my Ortho slenderized my rotated laterals and chained back the rest to make room.

Here's my question -- the sides of the laterals that are rotated in feel all roughed up. It seems as though the Ortho would have polished them up. Does the roughness go away or do you simply adjust to it?

I see my regular dentist in 4 weeks and assuming the sides are still exposed inward (which I predict will be the case), I may ask her to polish them up.

In the meantime I have no soreness after this adjustment so I am wondering if I will see any movement.

At least I got pretty dark blue metallic ligs and chains. I'll take a photo and post it later.

hi elle i've been having one of my teeth shaped and it did feel rough at first but it became smooth in no time at all so don't worry about that!

Thanks. Yeah, I'm still with it. Sort of have to stick it out because I no longer have a bite -- my teeth touch in about 1 place at the moment.

I've lost confidence in my Ortho. I think I should see more progress.

Here are my teeth now:

My midline is even more off, my lower laterals are still rotated, and the space created by the springs has closed.

He seems to be pushing my upper arch right (spring on one side only) and pushing my lower arch left (powerchain on one side only).

The only movement I have been able to detect so far occurs within the first 2 or 3 days after an adjustment. After that it's just a waiting game.

I'm not the most patient person. I'm also not afraid of pain. I'd trade more misery for faster progress.

Sigh.

Nu, so your midline is off a bit, ellebee, so is mine. We're twins.

Love the blue ligs.
