Starting point with pics.

#1 Post by timsmith »

I have been experimenting and slowly getting the hang of taking a pic of my teeth, the images below are 3 days after my braces were bonded.

Looks like I have a long way to go, correct rotations first, get arches to match, top will be widened by the brace, levelling, surgery to move bottom jaw forward by about 8mm or so, more finishing then 2 years in retention. Apparantly I will have bonded retainers top and bottom and a removable retainer on top as well so my top fronts will be held from both sides.

Image

Lots to look forward to,

Tim

ps let me know if the pics are too large, I chose the message board size so it should be ok.

Did they tell you how long t would take for your diastima to close? The gap? I have on between my two front teeth and I am very anxious and curious how long it will take for me and others how have the same gap.

No and I did not ask. I assume there will be some specific torture (I'm guessing a powerchain) for that after the top arch has been widened. I expect that everyting should be sorted prior to surgery which I am expecting in about a year, so that fact sort of answers the question. The two front teeth are sore now and the eye teeth either side are also tender, something must be happening there!

Nice going Tim; glad you got them; the pics look really nice.
I'm not aligned either, so I have some work to be done; I could not get my bottoms in right away as my teeth overlap somewhat; i guess an underbite?

Here is what I have to work with

I don't know how the spaces will be treated?

KK wrote:Braces are they planning to put an implant in for your missing right premolar? Your bite looks to be mainly cross bites and crowding, which shouldn't be difficult. The more alignment needed, the faster the treatment.

Good luck!
Thanks KiwiK! I had a bridge there and the ortho requested for it to be sectioned so she could get some movement. I think after the treatment I will have an implant put in there or re-do the bridge.; I hate bridges, so I will more than likely be an implant.
there are actually two teeth missing from that spot. I had crowding on that side as well

So how do you think the bite will be fixed? The more alignment, the faster?

Hi Tim,

These are excellent pics and useful to plot your progress. I'm certain you will start seeing results very soon. My treatment is so similar to yours. I haven't asked yet about closing the gap between my top two so I can't help there. The fact that you have some slight discomfort tells you that they are moving and that's what its all about isn't it? I wish you lots of movement and good luck with your treatment.

Mommynbraces,

To get everything to work my top arch needs to be widened by about 4mm. All 3 consults I had indicated that braces alone would do the trick. My treatment plan words indicate frequent wire changes, I'm guessing stronger wires soon, maybe at my first appointment since bonding.

Good luck with your and your daughters installations!

KK,

How do I downsize the above? I can see how to use a smaller size when uploading, if I delete the images on the website, they will disappear from the first post?

I'm confused!

Tim, if you delete the pics above from your image hosting site (which I can see is imageshack), the pics above will disappear. However, once you have the smaller sized pics uploaded into your host you can go back and edit your post above and insert the new links for the smaller images.

Hope that made sense!

That's pretty close to what my uppers look like, pretty straight, a gap in the middle, and a little flared.

My lowers though are crowded unlike yours.

So for me the uppers have to be brought in and the lowers have to be brought out. Hmmmn, something doesn't add up there...uh oh

Just a reply on the pic downsizing. Photobucket has a tool that will size your pic the right size for a message board. :)
