I saw a post similar to this and wanted to elaborate on it a little bit. I have ceramic braces on the top and bottom with a TPA appliance and triangular elastics. My face has always been rather full and I was wondering whether when I get my braces off if my fave will look more defined ad I guess "thinner" for a lack of a better word? Anyone have any experience or comments on this subject. I am quite young so my bone structure I believe is more prone to change. Also if you don't wear elastis 24/7 does that mean that all the improvements will be undone?
Sorry for al the questions! Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Will braces make your face look more defined?

Hey Hibby!!
I posted on a similar subject. I guess everyone is different but it my case I have noticed a difference in my face shape. I have an expander on my upper arch (not the kind you turn with a key, just a wire from one side of my top arch to the other that's connected to my upper bands). Anyways, I've only had it in for six months and it has really made my mouth much wider. I feel like since my smile has become so much broader it brings out my cheekbones more. I do not have elastics yet so I'm not sure how that's going to effect things but I know that I will be getting them very soon.

Hi,
sorry I don't have a specific-to-you answer, either, but braces definitely do change the face.
As for the cheekbones, true - they do become more prominent with age, at least for awhile.
Actually my Mom always said that fullness of the face in a woman changes at specific times regardless of weight (except for extremes):
- fuller in teenage years up to early 20's;
- then more defined in mid/late 20's to about mid-30's
- then fuller again
From then on, cheeks will depend on your weight more than they did in younger years.
