Thanks for the replies everyone!

I got a referral from my dentist and will be making an appointment soon.

My only concern is that I might need to get a few teeth extracted (I'm guessing I have crowding -- my top second molars are slanted backwards, I'm assuming because they don't have room? My wisdom teeth haven't come out yet either...)
If I do indeed need to have them pulled, I don't know if I'm going to go ahead with it. I had a lower molar pulled a couple years ago, and it was probably one of the worst experiences of my life, so I don't know how I feel about doing that again...twice. We'll see though.

Thanks again for all the responses! :D

Glad to hear you've decided to go for it! :D Not sure how I feel about having teeth extracted. I had 4 teeth extracted as a kid and a brace which gave me a great smile but over the years my teeth have moved back into their origial position (no retainer) and I now have a very gappy smile. I won't smile with my mouth open in photo's and I put my hand over my mouth if I laugh. I became so depressed over them, I even considered having false ones instead!

Luckily, my dentist talked me out of it and I got my braces the day before yesterday. Already I can see an improvement and although it's really uncomfortable and I can't eat yet, I know in 6 months time (he's promised me it'll only take 6 months), I'll have the smile I used to have years ago!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!! :D
