How long after repositioning before debanding?
Hey everyone ~
I know it totally depends on a lot of different things, but does anyone have a general idea of the average time before debanding after repositioning for fine tuning? I just made my appt for repositioning. Kind of hit my wall with the braces and want to know there is light at the end of the tunnel! Any insight you could give would be great!

I had six brackets reposition in early February, and another three repositioned yesterday. Debanding date has oscillated between May-July, most recent estimate is May/June. I'm a bit skeptical (there is still a fair bit to be done), but I guess he knows what is likely to happen over the next couple of months...

The ortho estimated my time behind bars would be 20 months, but says that I'm ahead of schedule. As you can see from my ticker, I haven't been in them very long, so I'm probably just getting anxious.
It looks like your debandings were shortly after repositioning, so maybe there's hope!

I had brackets repositioned several times during my two years in braces, some of them early on in treatment. I just had some repositioned again this last adjustment, and I will be debonded this summer.
So, in some cases, yes it means the end is in sight...but then again, I had brackets repositioned a year ago as well, so, you know, it just depends on your particular case and what kind of an adjustment your orthodontist is performing.

Hmm, although I can see from the other posts that this does vary from person to person, DaisyMay66's situation seems (fingers crossed, knocking on wood and all that) similar to mine. I have a repositioning appointment in a couple of days' time, and there's been talk of debanding this summer. Always hesitant to get my hopes up, though.I had a bracket repositioned in January and just got my braces off today.
So... three months was not too bad.
BTW, I've just passed the 2-year mark, so I too have *hit the wall* with my braces.
Braced March 2005 (lower); November 2005 (upper); all ceramic. Goal = correcting overbite.
