guys, have you ever noticed your teeth moving...

#1 Post by ABraces2007 »

Hello everyone.
There is just one question.
I`ve been wearing braces for 4 weeks now and my smallest teeth, wich are my lower teeth (they are thin and long), i can actually see them moving when i point my finger on them... that is soooo creepy... i wondered if it was normal.. my gums seem to be in a perfect condition as well as my teeth, but this side-to-side moving ... i don`t know. I have an adjustment next week, by the way.

ABraces2007, hey.

The issue of moving teeth has been discussed on this forum many times and it seems to be completely normal for teeth to get a little loose during the treatment and move. Logically too, it seems completely acceptable, since the job of braces IS to MOVE teeth. But then again if it really bothers you, just ask your ortho at your adjusment next week!

But for now, relax =]

Best of luck,
Sin

thanx, sin.
well, at least i know more people experience that.
i really realize that teeth can move, and i definitely have my front teeth very sensitive now, but the case is that i haven`t seen any of them moving, i could feel it, but at least not "see" it. I also think it can be more noticeable on smaller teeth. Well, i don`t chew neither bite on them any way, so , i think i can deal with them one week more.

hi, KK.
the thing that scares me most is that i remember the way they fix this wire at the ortho office, with so much pressure on my teeth, so, i just can`t imagine howcome they are going to put a new wire while my teeth are still so sensitive... that must hurt so much!!

HI Abraces2007!!

Well let me tell ya from my own experience OUCH!!!!!!! My teeth are very sensitive and painfull when it comes time for them to move, and at my last adjustment, I'm pretty darn sure I had my legs up off the ortho chair, and even though she was being as gentle as she could be, I think I might have uttered a couple of naughty words too!!!! and I am pretty sure that I had some excess MOISTURE in my eyes, my last adjustment was frieken painfull and sore for a whole weekn'half after!!! But this was my own experience, I am a wussy when it comes to pain!!

So may the force be with ya or at least some Tylenol!!!

My sedcond premolar is very loose. It was supposed to exrtude some, and really has. In the begining the was quite a agnle between a molar and it. No the archwire is straight and the tooth is loose, I can press it donw and it jumps up.

My teeth are a little loose but not bad, just ha my first adj yesturday and it was relativly pain free except for a couple of teeth. The ortho put a finger on the tooth as she was twisting the wire ties. Kept my teeth from moving to much while being wired.

The "loose" feeling of your teeth is totally normal. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

i have 3-4 tooth that are loose to the touch, they make clicking sounds when when i move them with my tongue and this was during the first week. seems like some days are better than others when my teeth feel solid.

I have this same thing happening w/ my teeth, and I posted about the clicking... KK told me the clicking is the archwire adjusting in the bracket, b/c they are designed so they have enough slack so your teeth are not damaged (or something close to that ;) ) I thought it was the root of my tooth, so I was freaked out! LOL Just thought I'd share...

I have this freaken clicking as well, well, i think it is because my teeth are changing their positions and if i push them they click of each other as they are moving ... that`s weird.. i can make a piano with my tongue, i just push my lower teeth with my tongue from the inside to outside and can hear clicking almost in each of my front teeth.... LOL

well, ABraces, I haven't taken particular notice of my teeth moving, BUT since I read your post yesterday, I had the craziest dream last night about how all of my teeth were seriously loose and wiggling everywhere! Yikes! Of course, when I woke up I had to check them, and was like, "Phew! They're all still there -- and not wiggling!"

i use to have those dreams very often maia, cause i use to grind my teeth at night, so, sometimes i just wake up thinking i`ve lost all of them but then... phew!!they are ok... since i wear braces it became better, cause i had a special filling on my molars so that i can`t grind and now i can`t even put my jaw into that position i usually used for grinding..
Well, since you guys are writing that almost all of you had that loose feeling, i think mine is not the worst one... at least it doesn`t hurt.
