Anyone with a removable expander?

#1 Post by ash0708 »

Just wanting to hear from any of you that have had a removable expander. Experiences? Complaints? I just got a fixed one removed due to swallowing/tongue problems and would like to hear from you all. I already have top and bottom braces (clarity on top/unit on bottom). I thought they were Damon, but I was wrong. Thanks in advance!

I had a removable expander for about 6 months. Took some getting used to, but it did its job perfectly. They actually take up more space in your mouth than a fixed expander does because of all the plastic that covers your palate. The upside is that I could take it out to eat and brush.

I have not heard of anyone using a removable expander once their brackets have been placed. Mine had a labial bow around the front teeth and clasps on the molars that would not work with brackets on the teeth.
