Sometimes...

#1 Post by skyclad »

I can only feel the pressure on one arch, and sometimes just 1 tooth, then later a different tooth will feel tender and the first one is fine.

I have learned that bacon and totinos pizza rolls are a tad too adventurous for me.

I know the braces are working, I am not complaining just making an observation.

Does anyone else experience this?

Sure, all the time that I was in braces, one tooth, several teeth or an entire arch would suddenly be effected by something going on in my mouth.

It didn't really go away until I was debonded and all the activity was over with.

Mind you, it was rarely painful...usually pressure or tightness.

You're not alone!!

Sometimes one of the teeth will become a little tender, but that's pretty much all of it.

Tried cereal, so not happening, had to give to my bro.

Same thing has been happening to me lately. One or two teeth are aching while the other ones are fine :)

I am trying to follow advice but...

KK repeatedly says to get back to chewing normally as soon as possible, that explains why I have tried bacon, pizza rolls, and cereal. Maybe a little too soon for those sorts of foods. Rest assured I will be trying them again. Too good not to.

I know this is a BIG no-no, but sugarless gum!! Really. I always chewed a piece after every adjustment. Especially worked it in sore areas when necessary.

So long as you only chew 1 piece at a time and are careful, you'll be fine.

REALLY!

Some orthos even put gum into their goody bags when someone is braced.

Yep, that's it!

If you get nailed for it, blame ME! Your ortho can't find me....and you're off the hook!

Really, give it a try....we all want you to be comfortable!!

Why is gum not allowed? I didn't ask my ortho about it, but one assistant mentioned that Freedent is okay.

I actually chewed Spry gum which is not made for dentures/braces, and it was okay. Xylitol stings on sensitive places though, feels like sugar on cavity.

I did the SAME thing! Gum seemed to help work out the soreness and I never had a problem chewing it.

Yes! I've noticed that too, it tends to be a different tooth each day that aches!!

The last time I chewed gum (about 4 years ago) it pulled a large filling out :(
