Worried :S

#1 Post by Girlinterrupted »

This question has probably been answered somewhere on the site but I couldn't find it, so I apologise if this is repetitive lol

I have noticed that I am starting to get a small gap between my two front teeth. I wear train tracks.
How will this be corrected? I'm already self conscious about my looks, without having gappy front teeth too lol

sometimes, often frequently, your teeth will get a lot worse before they get better. Gaps forming is quite normal!

Now as to how your ortho will fix it, it could be any of a number of ways. One is that the regular wire and brackets will be adjusted to address it at a future adjustment, there are a lot of ways this would work...by pulling back on an overjet or by torquing the teeth or tilting them. Another is to use powerchains to pull them together.

I am sure your ortho will handle it the right way when it is time.

Keep in mind, that the next adjustment may not be the time to deal with this new thing....there is so much going on in your mouth. I know that patience can be SO HARD!!

As for being self contious, I understand completely! I just hope that this gap is closed quickly so you can feel better!!

Thanks so much for the replies :D

I am quite lucky in the fact that my ortho and I get on great and I actually love going to the ortho. I don;t know why I used to be so scared lol, and he wasn't even angry that I hadn't been for so long, so that reassured me.

I'll bring it up at my next adjustment. Thanks everyone :D
